Fake pills are one of the deadliest threats facing families today. Here is what to know to help keep yourself and the people you love safe:

• Only take pills that were prescribed to you and came from a pharmacy.
• Fake pills often look real. Counterfeit versions of prescription medicine can be made to look identical and still contain fentanyl.
• Fentanyl can’t be seen, smelled or tasted.
• One pill can kill.
• Keep naloxone (Narcan) on hand and make sure the people around you know where it is and how to use it.
• If someone is unresponsive, not breathing or turning blue, call 911 right away.
